We basically cultivate two different types of Sandalwood.

Red Sandalwood

Red Sandalwood, popularly known as Rakta chandan. Having a unique vibrant red color, this is known for its wood but it is not fragrant. Being relatively small, it grows upto 20-25 feet tall.

This type of Sandalwood has various health benefits having the treatment of dysentery, bleeding, as an anti-inflammatory and antipyretic. Red Sandalwood has dense timber that is not gnawed by worms. But its color is affected by sunlight. Therefore, it is usually grown in a cool and dry place.
